Our Financial Independence Journey: Monthly Update #44 (August 2020)

Friends,

I am very late with the monthly update from August. I simply can’t keep the updates in the long format currently as there are too many things going on in our “real life” 🙂

I am not quitting the blog, but I will just have some downtime until we are above water again.

I still want to document my journey, so you will get the extremely short version with graphs this month 🙂

Our savings rate for August fell sharply after a good long period. This is due to the costs associated with selling our apartment and finding a new house… more about that new house at a later point 😉

Net worth didn’t increase a whole lot due to us spending money on moving out of our current house and moving into a new one. There are so many transaction costs when doing that that I had somehow forgotten about. Anyway, it’s a small bump on the road and hopefully, we will as happy or happier in our new place 🙂

Decent investment returns all over – except CC, but who cares?

That’s it for August! Sorry for the ultra-short version, but rather something than nothing 🙂

Onwards,
Carl
